Introduction to Diabetes in Pregnancy: Highlights Historical Perspective, Pathogenesis, Epidemiology, Risk Factors and implications of GDM

2.

Screening and Diagnosis of GDM: Mentions Screening and Diagnosis of GDM and Pre Existing Diabetes in Pregnancy.

3.

Management of Diabetes in Pregnancy – Part I: This module deals with Pre – Conception Counselling, Need for treating GDM and Management of GDM.

4.

Management of Diabetes in Pregnancy – Part II: This module deals with Monitoring of Diabetes in Pregnancy, Obstetric Management, Follow up Care and Long Term Considerations in GDM.

Training and Teaching Methodology

  • The course utilizes a variety of teaching/learning techniques.
  • Training in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus will be complemented by providing the participants with various distinct case studies and challenging assignments.
  • The course will be offered on a modular basis with judicious mix of case-studies, group discussions and direct teaching by eminent experts in the field of Diabetes/Endocrinology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology within built flexibility to accommodate participants requirements.
  • Complete and comprehensive learning package including printed modules and CD modules will be provided by PHFI.
  • The course content will be delivered by one Diabetologists/ Endocrinologists and Obstetricians/Gynaecologist in every Regional Training Centre.

Evaluation Criteria

Participant evaluation will be through a continuous internal evaluation, course work and performance in the written examination. The criteria for successful completion of the program shall be as follows:

  • Participation in all the 4 monthly contact sessions (including the pre-test and post -test of each module)
  • Completion of assigned course work (Two descriptive assignments based on completed modules given at end of 3rd and 4th module)
  • Appearance and clearance of final written examination in the form of MCQs in an hour, along with Module IV (Min. 50% score required to clear the examination).

The candidate completing the certificate course successfully shall be awarded certificate, to be jointly issued by PHFI, DMDEA and respective Regional Faculty.

Course Fees

For enrollment in the certificate program, the completed application form with a Demand Draft of INR 7000/- in favour of “Public Health Foundation of India” payable at New Delhi, can be submitted to:
